Publishing

Earth Access publishes work that would otherwise sit on a shelf and disappear when the students, and eventually the faculty, move on. We give small but valuable data a place to be preserved and found.

Earth Access Authoring

Every Earth Access Geoscience manuscript is prepared in Earth Access Authoring, our in-house software for writing articles in JATS, the XML standard that journals and archives use to publish and preserve research. Each manuscript costs $127, paid when you create it and not refundable.

What you’re buying is the finished, publication-ready JATS article. It’s yours. We hope you’ll publish it with us, and we’re glad to, but you can take it to any journal or repository that accepts JATS. The fee doesn’t buy acceptance, and there’s no separate charge to publish. Read the full fee policy.

Earth Access Geoscience

Earth Access Geoscience publishes undergraduate geoscience research and data that would otherwise go unpublished. The Editor reviews every submission for scope, data completeness and methods, and each one carries a signed attestation from the faculty advisor who supervised the work; there is no external peer review. Everything published, data included, is released under CC BY 4.0. The first issue is December 2026. After that, articles publish as they’re ready and are gathered into issues in February, May, August and November.
